So many valuable findings to digest, attitudes to embrace and actions to initiate from this commentary looking at issues faced by women in the workplace.

Flagging up that there is no lack of ambition on the part of women is a crucial myth-buster.

Another myth ripe for busting is the ‘expectation bias’ that women returning from maternity leave will offer lower contribution and commitment.

And an important action point is tackling the barriers to help overcome the ‘unentitled mindset’ which manifests as a lack of self-belief and entitlement. Until we tackle that, how can we expect to shift the gender pay gap which manifests as a chasm by the time women reach middle age, standing at 20.8% for women in their fifties.

It’s important we have the conversations, support each other to effect change and pass the message on to younger generations if we want to ensure they don’t face the same situation in mid life.
